Pitt to star in adaptation of British miniseries
Variety is reporting that Brad Pitt will star in the Americanized version of a British miniseries entitled "State of Play". The film will be directed by "The Last King of Scotland" directer Kevin Macdonald.A congressman's mistress is killed, and a team of investigative reporters secretly work with a police detective to solve the murder. Pitt will play a reporter who was once close to the congressman but now heads an investigation that leads to the highest levels of government and industry. Pitt aligned with the project last year.
Andrew Hauptman will produce, and Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner have joined as producers as well. Paul Abbott, who wrote the original miniseries, will be exec producer.
Pitt, who will next be seen in "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," just wrapped "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button."
The film is scripted by Matthew Michael Carnahan and shooting is scheduled to begin this November. The film will be released by Universal Pictures.(SOURCE)
